“Waiting On” Wednesday: The Vincent Brothers

Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that I’m eagerly anticipating.

I’ve been out of the WoW world for the last few weeks due to vacations and computer problems, so forgive me if I’m posting something that you’ve seen a dozen times already. I read The Vincent Boys a few months ago, and completely and irrevocably fell in love. I love this author’s voice, and while I’m so happy The Vincent Boys ended the way it did, I was sad that Sawyer was left with nothing. Thank you Abbi Glines for giving us his story, because the good guys need their happily ever after just as much as the bad ones.

He may have given her up without a fight, but Sawyer Vincent is far from over losing the girl he’s loved all of his life. Instead of giving up his best friend and the girl he thought he’d spend forever with, he gave Ashton and his brother Beau his blessing. However, adjusting to seeing Ashton wrapped up in Beau’s arms isn’t easy. Complicating everything even more, Ashton’s cousin Lana is in town for the summer. Sweet, kind, soft-spoken Lana, who gets under his skin. Just being near her makes him forget all about Ashton and his broken heart. Lana is everything he wanted Ashton to be except she isn’t Ashton. She lacks the backbone to stand up for herself and confidence that Ashton wears like a crown.

Lana McDaniel has lived her life in her cousin’s shadow. While Lana struggled with her grades no matter how hard she tried, her mother praised Ashton’s intelligence. She hadn’t been blessed with Ashton’s blond hair and flawless skin, but that didn’t keep her mother from lamenting her naturally red hair and freckles. But none of that would have mattered if Ashton hadn’t always had Sawyer Vincent wrapped around her finger — the only boy Lana wanted. Once Ashton let Sawyer go, Lana had been so sure that he’d move on. Determined to make Sawyer finally see her, she’d talked her mother into letting her spend the summer with Ashton. But Sawyer is still in love with Ashton, and Lana isn’t going to be anyone’s rebound girl. No matter how yummy Sawyer Vincent’s kisses taste.

“Waiting On” Wednesday: Such Wicked Intent

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that I’m eagerly anticipating.

I looooove Frankenstein – books, movies, cartoons, socks – well, you know.  One of my favorite movies was a hideous version that had Jane Seymour in it.  She had her head cut off and Dr. Frankenstein sewed it back on and put a black choker over it to hide the seam.  Gross, right?  It was so schlocky, it was awesome.  I’ve been looking for more books from a male POV and I saw Petra from Safari Poet put together a Goodreads shelf with exactly that and *gasp* there was a YA Frankenstein book!  Well, it was this one which is technically the second in the series so I had to go back and buy the first one so like pretty much always, I’m way behind on reading, but I’m really excited about this one.  I have until August to finish the first one anyway which might be doable.

“Waiting On” Wednesday: While It Lasts

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that I’m eagerly anticipating.

I was goofily in love with the second book in this series, Because of Low. Low’s best friend Cage was such a gorgeous mess, I couldn’t wait for him to get his own book and find someone and I was so happy when Glines announced that his book was next!  Seriously though, that cover makes me want to grab a tube of Cortaid.  His butt has to be itching, right?

While it LastsWhile It Lasts (Sea Breeze #3)

Publication Date: August 7, 2012
Genre: Contemporary New Adult/YA-Mature

Maybe driving home after a few (or more) shots of tequila had been a bad idea, but hell, he did it all the time. The cops had to have been freaking bored to have pulled him over. He wasn’t even swerving! That’s Cage York’s story and he’s sticking to it.

Unfortunately, his baseball coach isn’t buying it. Cage has a free ride to the local junior college for baseball — or he did, until he’d gotten a DUI. Now, Cage has to decide: does he drop out and give up his dream of getting noticed by a college in the SEC, and possibly making it into the Major Leagues — or does he give in to his coach’s demands and spend his summer bailing hay?

Eva Brooks planned out her life step by step when she was eight years old. Not once over the years had she lost sight of her goals. Josh Beasley, her next door neighbor, had been the center of those goals. He’d been her first boyfriend at seven, her first kiss at ten, her first date at fifteen, and her first tragedy at eighteen. The moment she’d received the phone call from Josh’s mother saying he’d been killed along with four other soldiers just north of Baghdad, Eva’s carefully planned life imploded in the worst way possible.

Cage isn’t real happy with his closet-sized bedroom in the back of a foul smelling barn, or his daily interactions with cows, but he knows that if he doesn’t make his coach happy then he can kiss his scholarship goodbye. Only a sick and twisted man would decide his punishment was to be working on a farm all summer. No hot babes in bikinis waiting to meet a Southern boy to make her vacation complete. Just him and the damned cows.

Oh — and an uptight, snarky brunette with the biggest blue eyes he’s every seen. But she doesn’t count, because as hard as he’s tried to charm her out of her panties – he’s pretty sure she’d rather see him hung from the rafters than let him get a taste of her pretty little lips.

“Waiting On” Wednesday: Crewel (Crewel World #1)

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that I’m eagerly anticipating.

Can I just sit and gasp over that cover for a while?  I love the juxtaposition of the pretty, swirly colors and the sort of spare, slightly futuristic title text. Hey, what a bonus – it sounds incredible. My last pick was about time travel and now I’ve picked a book about a girl with the ability to weave the timelines of other people’s lives. Next week: a psychic blogger who knows how to tell time.

Incapable. Awkward. Artless.

That’s what the other girls whisper behind her back. But sixteen year-old Adelice Lewys has a secret: she wants to fail.

Gifted with the ability to weave time with matter, she’s exactly what the Guild is looking for, and in the world of Arras, being chosen as a Spinster is everything a girl could want. It means privilege, eternal beauty, and being something other than a secretary. It also means the power to embroider the very fabric of life. But if controlling what people eat, where they live and how many children they have is the price of having it all, Adelice isn’t interested.

Not that her feelings matter, because she slipped and wove a moment at testing, and they’re coming for her—tonight.

Now she has one hour to eat her mom’s overcooked pot roast. One hour to listen to her sister’s academy gossip and laugh at her Dad’s stupid jokes. One hour to pretend everything’s okay. And one hour to escape.

Because once you become a Spinster, there’s no turning back.

“Waiting On” Wednesday: What I Didn’t Say

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that I’m eagerly anticipating.

I’m pretty sure that when I’m old and gray, I’ll still be reading YA books. There’s just something about how intensely young teens feel everything that makes reading their love stories so enjoyable. I’ve never read anything by this author, but I saw this and knew I would have to give this a try. A hero that can’t speak?! I can’t wait to see how the characters overcome this challenge. This has to be good!

“Waiting On” Wednesday: Time Between Us

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that I’m eagerly anticipating.

I’m not completely sure if this is a strictly “he travels back in time”-type story or one where they can go back and forth together (I think it’s the latter). Honestly, until Eric Bana (drool) played Henry in The Time Traveler’s Wife, I wasn’t all that interested in that sort of thing at all anyway. There’s something about the synopsis for this one that grabbed me though and of course, it’s a book that isn’t coming out until I’ll be practically in a nursing home. Okay, not really, just October. But cripes, why do I pick books that have such long waits?
